War Jorunal: Chinese aircraft carrier almost complete

These images show an aircraft carrier that’s very close to being launched. Now Taiwanese have reason to be afraid.
“That will make Taiwan vulnerable to enemy attacks at sea from both front and rear" said Lan Ning-li retired vice admiral in the Republic of China Navy

The 302m long and 70.5m wide carrier, which comes with a loaded displacement of 67,000 tonnes and a speed of between 29 knots and 31 knots, can host as many as 50 aircraft of various types — possibly including Russian-made SU-33 and carrier-modified, Chinese-made J-10, as well as anti-submarine -helicopters and early-warning helicopters. source: taipeitimes.com

 Short background:

The first official plan of PLAN ( People's Liberation Army Navy) aircraft carrier dated back on March 31, 1987 when the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense approved the plan on the aircraft carrier and the next generation nuclear submarine for PLAN submitted by the then commander-in-chief of PLAN, Liu Huaqing. The original plan was to be progressed in stages, with basic research to be completed by the end of the 7th 5-year plan, and development of the platform and aircraft to be completed by the end of the 8th 5-year plan. By the year 2000, construction was to begin when ordered. In late 2008, and through early 2009, there have been foreign reports that China will start building two 50,000-60,000 ton aircraft carriers that may be finished early 2012. Whether the two ships will be similar to the Varyag (ski jump) or American carriers (catapult) is not yet known. There are also some reports of a possibility of China building two nuclear powered Type 089 aircraft carriers

Old Tanks Prototypes no.1

I've decided to start a new series on this blog, I'm going to be posting a short infos about old tanks prototypes
each  Wednesday. I hope you will enjoy it :}.

During World War 2 around the early 1940's Germany had proposed two gigantic tanks called the P1000 "Ratte" and P1500 "Monster." Before these giants could be reality, they were cancelled.

P1000 "Ratte"

The Ratte's primary weapons would have been two 280 mm SK C/34 naval guns mounted in a modified naval heavy cruiser turret as used in the  Gneisenau class battleships, fitting two guns instead of three. One such turret was supposedly built before the project was canceled, although documentation of its whereabouts is missing. It is rumored that the prototype turret was used as a coastal gun emplacement in occupied Netherlands near Rotterdam, but it now appears this turret was actually built to the specifications of the Gneisenau class and was unconnected to the Ratte program.

    Weight           1,000 tonnes
Crew             20+, possibly as many as 41
Operational
range
 120 miles (190 km)
Speed   40 km/h (25 mph)
P1000 "Ratte"

P1500 "Monster"
This "land cruiser" was a self-propelled platform for the 800mm Schwerer Gustav artillery piece also made by Krupp – the largest artillery guns ever fired for effect. Their 7 tonne projectiles fired up to 37 km (23 miles) and were designed for use against heavily fortified targets. Given its lack of a traversable gun, it was more of an extremely heavy self-propelled artillery piece.

P1500 "Monster"

Weight                        1,500 t
 Crew                           100+
Operational range     Unknown
Speed                         15 km/h (9.3 mph)

In 1943, Albert Speer, the Minister for Armaments, cancelled both projects.

Osama Bin Laden will appear in Modern Warfare 3?

  Just Look what i found....

"Kotaku, a very reliable gaming website, reported yesterday that “a brief audio clip that we believe is a piece of the upcoming Modern Warfare 3 refers to SEAL Team Six, the unit widely assumed to have killed Osama Bin Laden in a raid in Pakistan earlier this month.”

BOPE (Special Police Operations Battalion)

It’is a special forces unit of the Military Police of Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. Due to the nature of crime in favelas, BOPE units have extensive experience in urban warfare as well as progression in confined and restricted environments(missions transported by helicopters, missions in jungle and mountain environments, and missions using explosives). It also utilizes equipment deemed more powerful than traditional civilian law enforcement.
Current Commander: Lieutenant Colonel Wilman René Gonçalves Alonso
The physical structure of the urban battlefield affects the use of weapons and their calibers, and in the case of Rio de Janeiro, this is an aggravating factor, since an undeclared war is being fought against an internal enemy by a public-safety and paramilitary force. According to their rules of engagement, the state-authorized police cannot respond with the same intensity and firepower that the criminals use. This is due in part to the Army’s veto on the acquisition of higher-caliber weapons, such as .50-caliber, needed to destroy the fortifications built by the bandits. In order to stop the police, the drug dealers have reinforced walls and balconies with concrete, adding loopholes from which to shoot, justifying the need for higher-caliber weapons. The BOPE basically uses 5.56 mm and 7.62 mm caliber rifles in its actions.
Motto and Logo "Faca na Caveira" ("Knife In The Skull")

A BOPE assault team usually operates with 8 men. In front of the group is always the point man. His job is to open up the way, and communicate with his group by using signals. The commander or captain is always the third on in the group. BOPE also have a Tactical Intervention Unit. Those are BOPE soldiers who are negotiaters, snipers or other soldiers with special skills like detonating bombs.
Size: 400 officers
The reality faced by the police in the Rio slums is similar to that faced by NATO troops in Afghanistan. The resistance posed by the Taliban, whose asymmetric war actions are sponsored by the lucrative poppy business, approximates Kabul to Rio de Janeiro. Nowadays, the risks faced by a Western citizen when walking in certain areas of the Afghan capital are the same of those of a police officer or a member of the military in the volatile zones of the capital of Rio de Janeiro state.
